A Trip to the Panty Drawer

It’s the month of love! Valentine's Day is here and we’re all wrapped up in how we can show our love to others.

Romantic, familial, or friendly, February 14th is all about handing out affection, appreciation, and devotion. (And chocolate!)

But what about showing a little love to yourself? How are you showering your goddess self with affection, appreciation and LOVE each day?

If you’re not lovin’ on you, it’s time to turn up the heat on the one and only relationship you’ll have all your life. These are my ideas and tips on how to dive into your own magic and practice self-love on Valentine’s Day and every day.

After all, that’s what my mission is: YOU LOVING YOU!

So what’s the best way to heat up a relationship? By diving into the panty drawer, of course! As a way to boost your love for your body, let’s go on a tour of your panties and make some positive changes.

For too many reasons, we all hate on our bodies and tend not to put ourselves first. Seriously ladies, what is this all about and why do we continue to think we aren’t worthy?

Take a moment to think about your own relationship with your body.
Do you love it?
Do you hate it?
Do you look at it with disgust, or do you celebrate all that it represents and does for you?

These are tough questions, don’t be afraid to ponder on them for a bit. I’ve worked with a lot of women and I know first hand that too many of us don’t have a great relationship with our sexy selves. This is something I've been on a continuous journey with and I know it's not over yet.  And I have met very few fellow sisters that have a stellar relationship with theirs.  I’m here to change that.

This week, as I was folding my laundry, I looked at my underwear and thought, “WHAT is this?!” The fabric was worn and saggy, there were a few pairs with little holes, and the intimates I held in my hands looked like my granny’s. Not so cute. Now, I’ve never been one to buy “cute” underwear. I’m not even sure I’ve ever had any matching bra and panty sets. But I usually at least have undies that are clean and hole-free. Seriously, ladies.  What the what?

As I stood there folding these sorry excuses for panties, a lightbulb went off. I realized my underwear drawer was quite a shamble and was not reflecting my goddess self. (Gasp!) And if that was the case, it needed to change. Do you think a goddess like Wonder Woman would wear the things you’ve got in YOUR panty drawer? I’m positive she’s not sporting what was in mine.

So I made a decision while folding those dingy digs that I was going to own my goddess status and completely overhaul that little panty drawer of mine. No more “conservative” pieces allowed in there! I immediately walked that stack of underwear to the trash and threw them right in, not even concerned about going commando until I replaced them! Just kidding … I actually did have a few pairs in my drawer that are sexy-girl status, so they got to stay.

I sat down at my computer and got to town ordering some panties that truly reflect ME. Vibrant colors, lacey fabrics, all the things a goddess wears to own her love for herself each and every day. And don’t be fooled, I wasn’t buying these for my husband as a special Valentine’s Day treat … this sexy shopping spree was just for me!

It’s the small things, ladies.
And this is what I’m going to ask you to do right now: Go to your panty drawer. Make an assessment and evaluate that situation. Then comes the hard part, do some purging!

Here are the rules:
  • You’re not allowed to keep any underwear that remind you of anyone but you.
  • Throw out all the panties that give you no joy or have ANY attachment to an ex-lover or bad relationship. They all need to go.
  • Once you feel good about all that’s been tossed, buy yourself some hanky pankies. Replenish that drawer with pieces that reflect you and only you.
  • You can purchase from anywhere, I just ask that you please don’t buy the shrink-wrapped 6-pack from the grocery store.

This simple act has a pretty big impact. It might be difficult to get started, but I think you’re going to find that just doing this will shift something magical inside you. Maybe just by reading this something has already shifted.

We all have to start somewhere with owning that inner light. Today I’m asking you to start in your panty drawer! Go out and treat yourself, even if it’s just one or two pairs for now. Start where it’s a tiny bit uncomfortable so you can grow and shift a little, until you’re ready to shift a lot.

I can’t wait to see your panty drawers!

I have been practicing this for a couple years now. It's a great way to practice a little self love and support. Naughty Nickers is a great way to build a collection. Just saying.
